To make our presence known, Scientist Rebellion Turtle Island got a booth in the Ecological Society of America exhibit hall. That’s right–Scientist Rebellion was now an official exhibitor of the ESA 2024 Annual Conference. And a very welcome and well-attended booth it was: dozens of ecologists and attendees came to talk to us, with questions ranging from “What is Scientist Rebellion?” to “How can I get involved?” Scientist Rebels shared their experiences as activists, learned about challenges faced by our fellow scientists, and offered concrete and proven ways to address the climate crisis through activism and community. With students and career scientists and even an ecologist from Exxon Mobil stopping by to chat, we knew we made the right decision to pay for a booth (although please donate here, as it was not cheap).

Ecologists and scientists everywhere are looking for answers to the existential threats brought by this fossil-fuel-and-corporate-greed-driven climate emergency–Scientist Rebellion offers those answers. We hope you got a chance to stop by if you were at the ESA conference, and please reach out to us at sr_turtleisland@protonmail.com if you missed us, or come join one of our welcome meetings!

Many of us wore labcoats around the conference, so we were easy to identify and more likely to strike up hallway conversations.

Our booth became a hub of activity, with plenty of chances to talk with conference participants.
